History

Nine decades of tradition

Our trajectory began in the 30’s of the last century. The entrepreneurial spirit of Marcel·lí Farrés i Boladeras pushed him to start the craft of a tanner, mainly manufacturing shoe soles. The location of the original factory, in Sant Antoni de Baix de Igualada street, is where the company’s headquarters still stand today.

In the 1960s, Miquel Farrés i Rojas took over from his father. At the head of the company, he diversified production towards the leather goods sector, opened distribution to foreign markets ─mainly Europe─, promoted the Splenda brand and, in the last quarter of a century, carried out a significant expansion of the facilities.

In the last decade of the 20th century, Dolors Farrés i Llansana took the lead, leading, in these years, an important commitment to reach new markets ─Nordic Countries, North America, Central America and Asia─, modernising and expanding the facilities again and placing the environmental commitment as a primary element in the production process.

Generation after generation, the principles that have guided us are the respect for the profession, the close and honest relationship with the clients and the search for excellence in all our products.
